TILAPIA

What is it?
The Tilapia breed of fish is an oreochromine cichlid fish native to inland and coastal waters in South Eastern Africa, from the Zambezi basin in Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. It is a remarkably robust fish, readily adapting to available food sources and breeding under sub-optimal conditions.

Different sizes
In order to cater for every segment of the Malawi market, BOSS Fisheries offers you the widest range of Tilapia sizes from the budget 50g-100g fish to the larger 500g-800g perfectly suited for the hospitality industry.

Gutted & Scaled
Don’t have time to gut and scale your fish? In a hurry to serve the perfect dish? BOSS Fisheries Tilapia comes in a range of already gutted and scaled fish from 200g-300g, 300g-500g, 500g-800g.

SPRATS (IQF) (USIPA WAUKULU)

What is it?
Sprat (sprattus sprattus) belong to the same family as herrings and sardines. They’re small oily fish which contain omega-3 fatty acids which are known to be good for our heart health. On average sprat don’t mature until they’re about 11cm in length and only grow to about 16cm. A rough belly sets sprat apart from other similar small fish. They are known for their smooth flavour and are easy to mistake for baby sardines.

Packaging
The Sprats are Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) and come in 10kg boxes. As a means of simplifying life and offering quick delicious meal options for our customers, Sprats also come in 400g trays and are available for retail and wholesale.

HORSE MACKEREL (BQF) (MAKELERE)

What is it?
The Horse Mackerel gets its common name from the legend that other smaller species of fish can ride on the back of it over great distances. This mackerel can be smoked, fried, salted and baked. Horse Mackerel is an excellent source of vitamins A, D and B12. It has a high content of Omega-3 fatty acids. Horse Mackerel is currently available in Block Quick Frozen (BQF) packages of 10kg or 30kg.
